I was recently invited to a media event and open house for a kid's enrichment centre by My Little Genius. They were founded in 2008 with the objective of providing young children with quality education for brain stimulation. Baby F. has not started going to school yet as she's now coming 21 months of age, but we are intending to send her to playgroup classes end of the year. In the midst of these few months I thought why not since given this opportunity, to send her for some enrichment learning which only requires participation once a week for an hour session each time just for a start.
We were in matchy Mom-and-Daughter outfits as it was Mother's Day and I was excited to take her to the event for our family day out. Yes I know this post is a little overdue b'cuz 4 days following this event I unexpectedly given birth prematurely to Baby H. which totally caught me by surprise. |
There are currently three My Little Genius outlets which are at Jurong East, Hougang and Tampines. The open house was held at the Jurong East branch which was great for me b'cuz it's the nearest to me. This is definitely a consideration if I need to commit to taking her for lessons every week. |
My Little Genius is located on the 4th floor of 135 Jurong Gateway Road, which is above Fair Price and opposite Jurong East MRT station. Those of you familiar to Jurong East would probably know where I'm referring to. The place was easy to locate and definitely convenient so that's really awesome. |
Upon arriving at the centre, we were greeted by a tidy reception area and a sweet little girl who helped out with taking the temperatures of each child who entered the centre. This is definitely a necessary measure just like how schools practice, to ensure that every child is well and also keep flu bugs at bay. |
Baby F. quickly warmed up after a few minutes of exploring the area and playing in the play yard for a couple of minutes while we waited for all the guests to arrive. |
Balloon Sculpting Workshop
The afternoon's program started off with a balloon sculpting workshop, where the kids were taught how to make balloons into flowers. |
Not all the kids could follow the balloon sculpting instructions especially the younger ones so they were either playing around with the balloons or was watching their Mummies or Daddies help them with it. |
So just like me, I was following all the instructions and showing Baby F. along the way. |
The teacher was funny and she made the class interesting. |
The twisting, turning and squeezing of balloons made me make funny expressions throughout the class. Baby F. didn't even seem scared of the balloons. |
Posing for the camera mid way of the class.. |
And when we were finally over. Mummy & Daughter's teamwork! |
And this was presented to us Moms for Mother's Day, how thoughtful. |
Understanding 'My Little Genius'
After the little warm up session with the kids, parents were briefed on My Little Genius and the program outline - to let parents have a better understand on how the centre can help our kids with their brain development. |
All the pretty Mummies lined up attentively.. Hehe. |
There was a short sharing session by Theo10 who specializes in 100% natural products to help families. |
Interesting products like the Theo10 Skin which is a multi-purpose cream which can be used for mouth ulcers, insect bites, minor cuts & burns, rashes and allergies. |
I also really liked the Theo10 Moisturizer which is water resistant, meaning your hands still feel soft after hand washing. |
Other Theo10 products for display.. If you're keen to find out more about them you may click here for more product details. |
Took an impromptu group photo with some of the parent bloggers. |
Tea Party
Then we had a nice tea party spread. |
My Little Genius Trial Class
There were 7 different activities during the trial class has a purpose for each segment to help the child in learning. |
The Photographic Memory activity helps to improve a child's spatial recognition, increases the child's brain capacity, and develops phenomenal attention to details. |
Flash Card Songs brings about music appreciation and perfect pitch. |
Finger Play helps the child develop eye-hand-leg coordination. |
Although there were some activities which Baby F. still does not seem to fully understand, she seemed rather entertained with all of it. And I think that's all that matters since learning at this age is supposed to be fun and I'm sure she will eventually be able to catch up one day. |
Award Presentation
At the end of the session there was a little award presentation to all the kids who took part in the activities for the day. |
And there we are, all the happy parents and kids with their certificates, along with the teachers. |
It was definitely an enjoyable afternoon for me and I'm sure also for Baby F. 'cuz she had so much to do, learn, and friends to play with. Am pretty excited to bring her for the official classes soon and watch her learn and grow.
Thanks My Little Genius for having us! |
