Service Review - My First TULA Wrap Conversion Carrier & Customized Accessories from Angelycia

Hi Mamas! Today I'll be sharing about my First TULA WC (Wrap Conversion) Baby Carrier I scored on Baby TULA online couple months back. But first, let me share with you how I journeyed myself to being a TULA convert. Last year I talked about the difference between baby slings and baby carriers (link here). I've always been a practical Mama so I try not to spend/overspend on baby items that are not necessary. Baby F. was born last year and that means she was a Jubilee Baby born during the year of SG50. All SG50 babies were given a set of nice baby items and the Baba Sling was one of them. Being a practical Mom I used what was given until one day when Baby F. grew heavier, my shoulder also got more tired with slinging her on one side. Then I found out about the "awesome" TULA, went to try one out at Bumwear, then had to get myself one b'cuz it was so comfortable and Baby F. loved it too. I personally would recommend baby slings from infancy to maybe up to 4-6 months old for the cosiness, then switch to a baby carrier as they grow heavier so that the weight distribution of your baby can be spread out on both shoulders.

So this was my very first Baby TULA Canvas Carrier in Puppy Love. Look at Baby F.'s shiok sleeping face... haha.

What is TULATULA is a brand that carries different types of ergonomic baby carriers for all your preferences and here's the types of baby carriers TULA has to offer:
  • Soft Structured Carriers which are made of 100% cotton canvas, aka canvas carriers or buckle carriers,
  • Coast Carriers are similar to the canvas carrier but uses breathable mesh material to promote better ventilation which is especially good for humid and warm locales,
  • Woven Wraps are long pieces of fabric, specially woven to carry your child,
  • Ring Slings are made from woven wraps with an extra ring to secure the wrap in place,
  • Wrap Conversion Carriers are structurally the same as the canvas carriers, but made with woven wrap material.

I got my very first TULA canvas carrier last December during X'mas, thinking "wow this baby carrier is costly and I won't get anything more than this b'cuz I'm so happy with my canvas carrier". B'cuz I was so in love with my new carrier (so was Baby F. who always magically sleeps in it everytime - they call it the magic dust, haha!), I got fonder and fonder of this brand of baby carrier. As days passed and I learned more about it, I got myself "poisoned" by the TULA spell and I end up one day waking up in the wee mornings trying out my luck online TULA to "score" a WC carrier. Wrap Conversion carriers are some what a more premium carrier compared to the canvas ones. That is because the material used to make WCs are woven wraps which combine the art and beauty of modern weaving and by itself is a more premium material. There are different variations of just the WC carriers as you can see in the picture above; the semi, the half, and the full. Of course that means that the carrier made with more woven material is more expensive, e.g. full will be most costly, followed by the half, and the semi.

My first score and first WC! The Sekailove Sybelle.

The canvas baby carriers can be ordered online either on TULA's official website, or some other local online stores like Bumwear, Pupsik Studio, etc. They can also be tried and purchased at Bumwear's store (that's where I got mine). But for the WC baby carriers, TULA will only release them on their official website every few weeks at a specific date and time. B'cuz the WC carriers are limited during each day's sale and are highly sought after, they tend to get sold out almost every release. Thus we call it a "score" if we manage to get one.

A half or full WC is typically at least double the price of the canvas carrier (prices vary depending on the material of wrap used). Once you "scored" your WC and upon receiving a confirmation email from TULA on your purchase, it typically takes 2 weeks (from what I remember) to reach you. When we receive our "scored purchase", we call it a "fluff mail" - and this here is called a "ring shot". I'm not familiar why and who came up with all these terminologies, but I guess its all just for the fun of it.

One thing different about WC and canvas carriers... retailers do not sell ready-made matching accessories for the WC, but on the other hand there are matching accessories for the canvas carriers. So lets say if you managed to "score" a WC carrier and (LIKELY) wanna get some matching accessories like drool pads or hood, etc, you'd need to source for your own wrap/fabric to have accessory makers make them for you.

It was (for me) a long and quite painful process to look for the wrap/fabric b'cuz usually you won't need one whole woven wrap by yourself just to make some accessories for your WC carrier. So before you even order your woven wrap online, you'd have to look for other Mummies who "scored" the carrier in the same print as you, decide how much to share, source for the wrap online, then order and split the cost. This process is rather time consuming but I do know of many Mummies who actually enjoy this, just not me.

After you've gotten your wrap/fabric ready, there are many accessories maker out there who makes beautiful customised accessories for your WC carriers. Usually customers will decide on what to make and how they want it made. Your maker will then show you a rough idea of how the end product will look like and after agreeing, she'd start making your accessories. There was a few accessories maker which I KIV-ed but eventually I went with Angelycia b'cuz (1) I managed to secure a slot with her - usually there can be quite a waiting time to get yourself a slot with Angelycia but I was lucky I just gotten in for the last few for that opening (2) she's highly recommended by many Mummy friends (3) reviews of her work was very good, mostly raved about her great workmanship (4) she was patient and answered MANY of my questions even thou she was really busy, b'cuz many times I was undecided with the design I wanted (5) great service as she went the extra mile to source for materials just to show them to me.

Isn't it lovely?

After months of sourcing for the wrap/fabric, communicating with Angelycia back and forth about my ideal design for the accessories, then having Angelycia work her magic and crafty fingers... I finally got my beautiful set of matching accessories for my first WC baby carrier!!

Finally my Sekailove Sybelle has been dressed up pretty! I "scored" my WC in this print b'cuz my first canvas carrier was in black, I wanted another carrier in a lighter shade to match my lighter coloured clothes. I realised that dark coloured carriers don't match light coloured clothing, in fact looks quite hideous - lol!

I love neutral colours that are more versatile and easy to match with my clothing. I've mentioned that I'm a practical Mummy, so getting one WC is probably the most I'd go for so it's better worth my bucks if it can match more of my clothing, hahaha!! Actually right now most of the time my helper uses the canvas carrier to bring my girl to my mil's place in the day. I still use my canvas carrier to match with my darker clothes and alternate with my WC carrier on days I'd like to dress up in lighter coloured clothes.

Me heading out with my Sekailove Sybelle fully geared to the Baby Fair.
See everytime I take an action shot of my TULAs, Baby F. is surely sound asleep. Haha.

Having a TULA WC baby carrier - the process of scoring, to sourcing and making and finally dressing up the carrier was an experience. Writing this short story was just to share with new Mummies who are wondering about TULA baby carriers b'cuz honestly there's not alot of blog reviews about them. Besides that I would like to recommend Angelycia to all Mummies looking for accessories maker b'cuz she is an awesome accessories maker. Ask your Mummy friends and I think majority would know who Angelycia is and that her works are great. Angelycia also makes very very cute cartoon hoodies, you should really see her works online.

Beauty Review_Novalash Eyelash Extensions with Vivlash Beauty Studio_Single Lashes

Falsies and eyelash extensions are one of those things I rarely get 'cuz I've got naturally long lashes. Since my teenage days, one of the most important part of my makeup routine was to curl my lashes then triple coat them with Maybelline's Volume Express Waterproof Mascara - I never fail to get the super dramatic look which always earned loads of compliments from friends or even passerby's.

In the last 1 to 2 years, or especially after I gave birth, I did notice that my lashes actually became shorter and lesser and I have no idea why. FYI my girl has very long and curled lashes, and I'm suspected if I passed all my "goodies" to her - LOL! Besides that, after being a Mom I've actually tried means and ways to shorten my makeup routine as much as I can - e.g. like getting all the semi-permanent makeup I can, and now, I think I'm starting to succumb to eyelash extensions. Haha.

Eyelash extensions are one of those things I only try when there's an upcoming event or occasion, or even one of the pre-travel beauty things I have on my list. And this is actually only my second time doing eyelash extensions. Reason being 'cuz I'm afraid if I keep getting eyelash extensions, I'm scared that my lashes go botak (bald).

I was at Vivlash Beauty Studio the other day to trying out eyelash extensions again, I think my last (and first) one was probably 3 years ago? Vivlash Beauty Studio was located at Blk 510 Bedok North along Street 3. Even though I wasn't familiar with Bedok area, it was certainly easy to locate. I dropped off at Bedok MRT and took a bus from the interchange, it was easy to locate and think was only 3-4 stops away?

Upon arriving at Vivlash Beauty Studio, the place gave me the feeling of brightness, freshness, modern-chic interior, and really clean environment. The shop was not big but it was definitely more than enough to hold a few customers for eyelash extensions.

Vivlash Beauty Studio is specialized in eyelash extensions - that means you can trust to get whatever effect you are looking for. For me as good as being like a newbie and I couldn't figure out what type of lashes I wanted to choose so there was this "charting" which I could refer to and it was rather informative. There's like a full range of lashes from a single lash, 2D, 3D..... all the way up to 9D. I was kinda' confused until I took a good look at the lash chart closely.

Here, I took the liberty of zooming in on the lashes for you girls.. If you can see, well Single Lashes means they are single-stranded. Difference between Matt & Minx is that the Matt one is the very basic type of lash and the Minx is made of a better quality material thus feels slightly softer. But of course the better quality, the more costly it will get also. Moving on to the multi-dimensional lashes - 2D = 2 lashes in 1, 3D = 3 lashes in 1..... then finally 9D = 9 lashes in 1.. So whatever dimension you are going for, it means that that per 1 unit will be attached to 1 of your eyelash. Simply said, 2D means to say that 2 of the lashes in 1 unit will be stuck to one of your lash. The more the lashes on one unit of lash, the heavier/more dramatic your final look will come to. Hope I didn't just confuse anyone - LOL.

When it came to my turn, Vivian (the eyelash extension expert) did a quick consultation with me to find out the type of look I was going for. As I haven't done any eyelash extensions in yearsssss, I wanted to play it safe and natural so I was recommended the Single Matt Eyelashes in d-curl. There's 4 types of curl for the lashes and d-curl was the second most natural type, so it's not too curly and OTT. After that I was shown to the beauty bed which again looked really clean. That's a very big plus point for me 'cuz I always feel that beauty parlors should be clean and hygienic.

Vivlash Beauty Studio uses all products from Novalash, which is a very big and reliable brand in the eyelash extension world. I'm sure those of you who are frequent users of eyelash extensions or who have friends who are, would definitely know this brand. Why Novalash is so so popular, is b'cuz it's adhesive is made and tested to be one of the most effective ones on the market and has also become the leading brand in the market. Besides that, another very important point is that products from Novalash are formaldehyde-free, paraben-free, damage-free and anti-bacteria. That means to say that you will less likely feel irritation compared to other brands which do not have these properties. Of course i wouldn't say 100% of the population who uses this will definitely not have any eye irritations, just that without those harmful chemicals, chances of having an irritation-free session is higher!

More products from Novalash - the Gel Patches are what Vivian uses on the lower eyelashes during the eyelash extension treatment. Basically just to cover the lower lashes making sure that the upper lashes do not stick to the lower ones - that's a no-no when it comes to good eyelash extensions. And I love the pink/red eyelash brush stick thingy, so pretty in pink! You'd normally get one of those after your eyelash extensions so that you can brush or separate your lashes at home and/or after showers. I used to have one after my first eyelash extension and I thought it was really useful, but it was black and this.. so pretty!! Hehe.

This was my natural lashes, no makeup or anything on. Eek, pardon my blackheads.

Another view - my lashes look very sparse here. *Sigh* Think I really passed all my "goodies" to my girl already. Haha.

Me before getting extensions done, and no makeup.

After I got the Matt Single Eyelash Extensions done. This is the most natural type of lashes you can go for.

From the front it looks like I have naturally long lashes; not the super party-like dramatic kind.

What do you think? Very natural and clean looking right? The lashes were really really soft too! It's not poking or anything, really can't feel anything on my lids! And please note, good extensions are supposed to feel this way. If you feel poking or uncomfortable, it's not a good sign!

I love the look and it's an immediate transformation. Look how much my eyes "wakened" right after getting eyelash extensions!? I think I look good enough to head out like that, probably just touch up with some concealer and I'm good to go! Just like how we Moms like it!

Show you a comparison photo, before on top and after below. The after totally makes my natural lashes look like damn botak. : (

Before and after, full face shot. I think the picture speaks for itself, don't think I'll have to elaborate further.
Of 'cuz much chioer after the eyelash extensions right. LOL!

For those of you who usually does makeup on a daily basis, this is very good for you. It is a makeup remover by Novalash and basically is most effective for ladies with eyelash extensions to use 'cuz it doesn't have a specific ingredient in there that erodes the extension's glue to expedite the lifespan of your eyelash extensions. Definitely something to consider buying if you wanna prolong your extensions.

Overall I am feeling good about the eyelash extensions I got at Vivlash Beauty Studio. I felt comfortable and no stinging feeling in my eyes during the process, and my eyelids also felt very comfortable after the treatment 'cuz I couldn't feel anything poking or sticking o my eyelids - definitely had no adverse reaction to the products. I would say I'm definitely coming back to try those multi-dimensional ones in the very near future!! Hehe!!

Above is the price list for eyelash extensions here at Vivlash Beauty Studio. And as usual I have good offers for my dear readers! *wink wink*

Simpy quote "Vanny" to get 50% off any eyelash extension services.
I really think this is an AWESOME AWESOME deal, you do the calculations on your own yea.. haha.
Offer ends 14th December 2016 - just nice to get your lashes fluttering before the festive season, go get them now!

Do remember to book your appointment and quote "Vanny" before heading down!

Baby Product Review_Biolane Baby Bath Series From Pupsik Studio

Baby F. has sensitive skin just like her Mama and I think we both have relatively dry skin. During the first few months of her birth, Baby F. had a series of eczema-looking bumps all over her face and neck area (see picture here). It went away after awhile, ith the help of keeping her skin clean and moisturised on a daily basis. So of course being a Mama, I am concerned of the type of products we use especially for that young & sensitive skin. Pupsik Studio recently sent me a set of baby bath products from Biolane to try on Baby F.

Biolane
is a baby body product brand that's known for its suitability for sensitive skin and their products have been recommended by many pediatricians for many decades. Here's why:
  • Biolane products are specially formulated to protect and meet the needs of baby's skin,
  • all products have been tested under dermatological and ophthalmological supervision,
  • guaranteed to be alcohol and paraben-free,
  • formulated at pH5 to maintain skin's natural balance,
  • hypoallergenic which helps to minimize risk of allergies,
  • and is suitable for the most sensitive skin.

Let me introduce to you some of Biolane's best-sellers:

> Biolane Dermo-Paediatrics Micellar Solution
> Biolane Gentle Shampoo
Biolane Liquid Talc

What is... Biolane Dermo-Paediatrics Micellar Solution?
It is a no-rinse cleaning solution that cleanses without the need for rinsing. Apply to baby's face, body and bottom with a cotton pad for daily hygiene routine. I use this solution as the first step of her daily cleaning routine. Sometimes use this after night bath if Baby F. perspires just before bed time.

What I liked about it?
> The Biolane Dermo-Paediatrics Micellar Solution is soap and fragrance-free,
> no-rinse for the convenience,
> so convenient it can be used anytime and anywhere,
> it is gentle on the skin and does not dry skin out,
> it does not sting the eyes,
> suitable for dry and sensitive skin,
> it can even be used as makeup remover for Mamas! (though I haven't personally tried it as a makeup remover, the texture is very very similar to my water cleanser)

Baby F. enjoying her bath time.

What is... Biolane Gentle Shampoo?
It is a shampoo that is gentle for baby's use, which cleans and untangles baby's hair at the same time. A special ingredient used in this gentle shampoo, Hydra-bléïne®, is a unique natural plant complex which combines wheat oils and proteins. They limit water loss (dehydration), nourish and protects hair. It is very straight forward to use; just apply shampoo and lather, rinse off after that.

What I liked about it?
> The Biolane Gentle Shampoo is soap free,
> enriched in honey for untangling properties that make combing easier,
> smells light and refreshing, even I feel like trying on my hair - haha!!
> gentle that even adults can use it as a daily shampoo (but of course I'm not gonna steal my girl's shampoo...hehe)
its upside-down bottle with valve cap is easy to use - the valve cap helps to prevent from squeezing out too much shampoo at one go.

And Baby F. definitely agrees with her new products from Biolane - Thanks to Pupsik Studio for the lovely products!

What is... Biolane Liquid Talc?
Talc as most of us know is aka "baby powder". So what is liquid talc? It is a new formula of emulsion which, on contact with the skin, transforms into talc. Its formula reproduces all the properties of classic talc while avoiding the problems of volatility of a powder. Simply said, its a thick and liquidy solution which transforms into talc when applied onto the skin - interesting hor? I was really curious upon receiving this particular product and very excited to use. During the first use, I felt abit weirded b'cuz the feeling of using this liquid talc is very different from the traditional powered talc we grew up using. But I quickly grew to liking this liquid talc b'cuz there's no powder flying everywhere (I think most of you can related to the mess and how sometimes baby will grab the powder and spill it everywhere). Besides that, the liquid talc makes Baby F.'s skin feel silky & smooth, and smells damnnnnnn very good! Make my baby smell "pang pang" (aka fragrant-fragrant) - haha!!

What I liked about it?
> The Biolane Liquid Talc is paraben, alcohol and soap-free,
> its formulated with hydra-bléïne® which helps to soften baby's skin,
> convenient to use and safe for baby as there isn't particles of powder floating everywhere during application,
> specially designed to protect all of baby's skin folds that are sensitive to redness and irritation neck, legs, bottom, armpit, etc.),
> soothes the skin and absorb excess moisture from skin folds,
> strengthens skin's natural protective film against harsh external factors (e.g. urine, stool, abrasion with clothes, etc.),
> lightly fragranced and smells heavenly!

(This is the mobile version of Pupsik Studio's online store)

As usual, it's time I share good lobangs (aka good deals) with my readers...
Biolane baby products can be purchased online from a few online stores but why buy on Pupsik Studio? As you can see from the promotion above, if you purchase 3+ Biolane products you will be entitled 25% off!! Usually good baby products are very costly and I think this is a good deal considering the baby products are really good and moisturising for baby's sensitive skin, plus extra promotion on top of the affordable quality baby products.

And there's also specials for both members and non-members of Pupsik Studio (details stated as above). Pupsik Studio also sells other baby/Mummy products like nursing wear, diaper bags, baby toys and clothing, etc. You can make use of the specials to buy all the things you need on Pupsik Studio to earn points and get free courier delivery for orders above SGD$60 - don't say I didn't share! *wink wink* ; )

Here's the official website link of Pupsik Studiohttp://www.pupsikstudio.com/

That's all for today and I hope that you've enjoyed my review for these lovely baby products from Biolane and do stay tuned for more! Do feel free to leave me comments in the comment box below if there's any questions you have that's not already stated in the blog article above.

Service Review_Wedding Photography & Videography With Penn Studio Photography_Part Two - The Evening Reception

Hello! I'm back today for the part 2 of sharing my wedding photos with ya' all.. this time are photos of the evening reception of my wedding day. So that wrapped up the night... It was a fun night. I'm happy. : )

The photos were presented to us in a CD as a pair with covers, stating the couple's (our) names and date of our wedding. It was lovely and we both loved it. Even the CD inside was printed using our wedding photos. 2 CDs in each case, one for the tea ceremony and one for the evening reception. Overall I loved all the photos and videos done by Penn Studio Photography, they didn't really need too much info or direction from me to know what it was that Hubs & I liked. And everything turned out just as what we wanted. I esp love the videos b'cuz also, I didn't tell the videographer what I wanted and yet he managed to make the video in an exact way I would have wanted it. Loved it so a big shout out & thanks to Eric (Photographer) & Nugget (Videographer) from Penn Studio Photography!

So this comes to the end of my photo sharing session with all of you. Although these were not all of the photos, I'm sure it was enough to tell you the story of the night. Those of you who'd like to see more, I'll be posting the photos on my personal FB page so wait up. I know it was long-awaited but I'm sure it was worth the wait. ; )
