Newborn Photoshoot By Inessa Studio

So this is part 3 of my blog review for Inessa Studio whom I did 3 shoots with. First a Group Maternity Photoshoot with my June EDD Mummy friends, then a couple Maternity Photoshoot with Hubs, and now a Newborn Photoshoot with my baby. I do intend to have another last one probably 3 months from now to include Hubs, both my girls and I for a nice Family Photoshoot - we'll see how that goes. Anyway today I'll just like to share some photos of my sweetheart during her first Newborn Photoshoot at 17 days old.

This is the only photo taken with my iPhone 7. Already so cute hor?

We started out with a warm up session.
This series was shot on her cot since she was already sleeping soundly when the photographer came.

This was still taken on her cot with an additional fabric added below for a different background and dreamy effect.

Moving on to my bedroom where we used my bed as the background. So cute!

I didn't plan to be in the shoot with Baby H. 'cuz I was in a mess during my confinement period...
but still I took a few shots just to see. Turns out it wasn't that bad luh.

I was totally in my PJs but I guess it makes the whole thing look casual and warm.

As Baby H. was a preemie she was sleeping most of the time otherwise crying when not. This was one of the rare photos with her eyes open widely which she could barely keep open for long. LOL. Anyways usually a Newborn shoot is recommended to be taken within the first 2 weeks while they're the most sleepy and flexible. This was taken when she was 17 days old 'cuz first week we were dealing with her jaundice issues then 2nd week the photographer wasn't around. But lucky thing that since she's a preemie so she still looked relatively smaller than full termed babies, and also more sleepy.

It takes about 2 hours on an average to complete a newborn shoot but ultimately the situation would really depend on your little ones. My photographer shared with me that he has ever met a couple and their baby who never managed to shoot at all b'cuz baby was crying from the start and could not settle no matter what. Or another case where baby starts feeling unsettled half way through so the shoot had to stop mid way. It took us around 3 hours to get these pictures before my baby started being unsettled so I was quite lucky. We were actually trying to get a difficult pose towards the end of the session, i.e. having my girl on her tummy and chin on her arms crossed. But by the end of 3 hours when she was hungry and we just couldn't get that shot after trying for 3 times, I called it a day. So I guess the outcome of your newborn shoot is really depending on how your little one fair for the day. So best to have him/her settled with enough sleep and milk before starting. The Newborn Photoshoot is charged at $400 for a studio shoot which includes outfits & props and $150 for house call service. For more details of the rates and charges, please click here to find out. Every photoshoot comes with a framed picture too (see below).

I guess there's pros & cons for studio and home shoots. I would have preferred to have the shoot done in the studio so the we'd have much more outfits and props to choose from. I really loved the 'baby in the basket' look but that was not available for home shoot. On the other hand for a house calls it's great so that both Mom and baby could feel more at ease having to nurse or rest in the comfort at home. Since my confinement nanny was around she also helped out during the shoot and it made things easier too. And most importantly was that Hubs didn't want me to stay out too long during my confinement period that's why we opted for the shoot to be done at home.

Up till date I have worked with both photographers from Inessa Studio - Haru who did the group maternity photoshoot as well as my personal maternity photoshoot with Hubs, and Steve who did the newborn shoot. Both photographers were easy to work with and follows up very quick & efficiently. Overall all 3 sessions were great and I have no complains. I'd recommend to anyone who's looking for a place to get their photos taken at affordable rates.

So that's all for today and I hope you liked my short photo sharing session. Do feel free to leave comments in the comment box below if you have any question/s regarding the topic and I'll try my best to answer them if it's not already stated in my blog above. And that's all for today, bye~! ; )

Beauty Review_Korea Combo Eyebrow Embroidery Review By Arch Angel Brow

Heya! So I just went to get my brows done last week at Arch Angel Brow and I'm SUPER LOVIN' my new set of brows!! I've done my brows MANY times before and I'm always not 100% satisfied with them but this time I really found a place or should I say Eyebrow Specialist who does my brows so perfectly I'm super pleased with her skills. Hey I'm not picky to the extent that I'll say all the previous beauticians who did my brows were bad. It's just that none of them were this perfect and I'm so excited that I wanna share more with you!

Welcome to Arch Angel Brow. Before I go into details about my experience, let me do a quick intro for them. Arch Angel Brow is a beauty specialist located at 321 Clementi which has been around since 2015 to provide state-of-the-art technology and beauty techniques imported from Korea. They are the first to introduce Korea Combo Eyebrow Embroidery in Singapore which is a unique breakthrough embroidery technique from Korea only exclusive to Arch Angel Brow. This special eyebrow embroidery technique allows you to achieve natural-looking, well-groomed brows immediately with no downtime, no aftercare required and no interruption to your regular beauty regime. Awesome right? I was excited to get my brows done upon hearing that there's no downtime 'cuz I remembered I always couldn't wash my face or let my brows touch water for a week after getting my brows done.

Arch Angel Brow is co-owned by Kelly and Eileen who has the combined experience of 18 years in the beauty industry. They are both very experienced and I can vouch for Kelly, who did my brows that day. She is very meticulous and pays attention to detail. I was very impressed with her professionalism I could feel that she wanted the best for me and was not simply going through the motions just to complete her job.

Before getting to Arch Angel Brow, I was a little confused about the differences between all the types of eyebrow embroidery services & techniques available in the market. Kelly explained that Creative Eyebrow & Korea Embo Natural Brow belong to the 'stroke by stroke' technique which is embroidered deeper into your skin's tissues therefore leaving them semi-permanent. It means that even years later, the eyebrow embroidery would have lightened in colour but will still be visible on the skin. While Korea Combo Eyebrow & Korea Arch Angel Eyebrow are 'powder-like' that is only being embroidered onto the superficial layers of the skin, making them a temporary semi-permanent makeup which lasts between 1.5-2 years with touch ups done. The good thing about it is that you are able to change your brow shape eventually as the years go by and trends in eyebrow shape change. I am super envious for those who get to try out this latest technique now because my brow shape cannot be totally changed anymore as I did the stroke type which cannot be removed unless I undergo laser treatment - bleah.

So this is me and my brows 'before'. You can't really tell the flaws from this picture because the photo has been edited with Meitu so it just looks like natural or lightly drawn brows. However, I didn't draw my brows and the colour was from my previous eyebrow embroidery.

Okay so from the close-up shots you will be able to tell that my brows are not balanced, out of shape and the embroidery colour is quite off as it does't match & my original brow hair.

And this side is obviously longer than the other and super out of shape too because of the 'lobangs' (holes or bare spots) between my brows. Ugh... FYI, my brows were just done less than 2 years ago and the last touch up was done only last year. Yet this is what it looks like now and what I meant by semi-permanent.

After Kelly sat me down and explained to me the process, she started to design my brows according to my desired shape so that I can have a better idea of how it looks like and thus confirm if we were on the same page.

After giving her the green light she then applied numbing cream to my brows before we began the embroidery process. The numbing cream takes about 15 minutes to take effect which is very fast compared to many years back where I remembered I had to wait at least 30-45 minutes just for the cream to take effect. In the midst of the waiting I pumped my breast milk. Hehe. And yes, this is totally safe for breast feeding Mummies in case you're wondering - the colours used by Arch Angel Brow are organic and safe.

The embroidery process was done in a private room. I'm sorry there are no more photos during the session since this special embroidery technique is truly unique to Arch Angel Brow. It is their trade secret so hush-hush.. LOL. The colours used are all organic and you're able to choose from several shades for your eyebrows  my shade was Medium Brown if you're wondering. All I can say is that the technique of the embroidery felt like quick & light pokes on my skin and not the long stroke type from the typical 4D or 6D eyebrow embroidery that feels like a blade slicing on my brows. This is definitely less painful even when the numbing cream wore off. In terms of pain level, I would rate it a 4/10 when the numbing cream wore off but definitely 0/10 when the cream took effect.

And tah-dah... here is my new set of brows.. got chio (gorgeous) or not?? Hahaha..

Let's take a closer look.. the colour now matches my brow hair and flushes everything perfectly.
Instead of s
trokes of hair, my brows look like they have a layer of eyebrow powder over them.

What I'm most happy about was that my brows are now balanced in terms shape on both sides. Credit goes to Kelly who noticed that my brows from the previous embroidery were imbalanced and hence did her best to make them as perfect as possible. Previously one of my brows were longer at the ends and the other brow was longer at the front. Now they are all balanced and I'm so happy!! #confessionsofanOCD !!! Hahaha! Wonderful job done! Thanks Kelly!!

After the session, I had to take a mandatory wefie with the pretty and talented Eyebrow Specialist, Kelly!

OMG I look super chio with my new brows, must post another of our photos... Hahaha. Okay last one k.

And before I left, I got a bottle of moisturising gel for my brows which can be used twice a day to maintain the colour of my newly embroidered eyebrows. This is optional though because there aren't any special post-care rules to follow. You can wash your face as per normal and apply your daily makeup as you wish. The only thing to note is that you might want to avoid applying foundation and sun block on your brows as they tend to fade out the colour of the embroidery. Other than that, everything is fine. Oh yea, Kelly advised to do more hydrating masks if possible. It's just to keep the skin hydrated and anyway it is good for my skin, so why not? Just try to avoid whitening mask in the first week or so, just in case any of the agents in the whitening mask cause the eyebrow colour to fade. Yup, just these general tips to share. *wink*

Here's a before & after pic side by side just to show you how nice brows can make a person look more groomed. I look more fresh now and definitely one word to describe, pretty! Hahahaha!! Super thick-skinned of me but yea, its really pretty. I mean the brows okay?

Overall, I am very very happy with my new brows and the service/skills of Kelly and I HIGHLY recommend her. I would say by far she's the best Eyebrow Specialist I've met and she definitely lives up to my expectations. She's pretty and really professional at what she does so thumbs up up! Haha. I will be back in 4 weeks to get my brows touched up as well as try Hairline Embroidery for the first time. I'm super excited too! Do stay tuned for more updates!

So that's all for today and I hope you liked my beauty review for the day. Do feel free to leave comments in the comment box below if you have any question/s regarding the topic and I'll try my best to answer them if it's not already stated in my blog above. And that's all for today, bye~!

Giving Birth In Thomson Medical Centre_What Goodie Bags Do You Get In 2017?

Hi Mummies and Mummies-to-be, if you have been doing your research on which hospital to deliver in the year of 2017 you would possibly already know that Thomson Medical Centre is giving out 'Confinement Essentials' suitcases to all who deliver at their hospital this year. As I delivered at TMC again this time I would like to share with you what were the goodies that came with the suitcase as well as everything you will get for delivering at TMC.

So here's a quick look into what the ‘Confinement Essentials’ has:
(info taken from
https://www.thomsonmedical.com/confinement-essentials/)
  • 4-Wheeled Cabin Suitcase (22 inch / 56 cm)
  • Thomson Medical’s Confinement Cookbook + Nutritious Recipe Book for Pregnancy & Lactation
  • Hip & Belly Wrap
  • Anti-slip Covered Bedroom Slippers
  • Breast Pads
  • Waterproof Wet Bag
  • Set of Hair Loss Shampoo and Hair Loss Tonic Treatment
  • Set of Gentle Skin Cleanser and Moisturising Cream
  • Set of Probiotic Cleansing Mousse, Feminine Mist and Talc-free Body Powder
  • Feeding Accessories Wash + Wet Wipes
  • Growth Chart + Cupcake Stand
  • Young Parents Magazine + 6 Months Digital Subscription
  • Antibacterial Overnight Sanitary Pads (360 mm)
  • Disposable Underpants and Underpads (bed pads)
  • Document Holder + Huaxia Taimaobi Voucher for Thomson Babies
  • Aviva’s MyJoyfulBundle Insurance Plan for Mummy & Baby

Besides the suitcase, every Mummy will get an 'Essential' pack by TMC which includes:
Baby Wash, Baby Lotion, Baby Bottom Balm, Nipple Cream and Feminine Wash.

The nipple cream is my fav!! No need to buy b'cuz this one is really good, I swear by it since my first delivery. It is gel-like which is easy to spread on and doesn't feel too sticky/oily after application. This is important 'cuz you won't want to drag the cream over your (.)(.) when it is sore right?? This is LOVE!!! Anyway these products are full sized and can buy purchased at TMC or their online store.

Toiletry bag was also provided with the basic and standard necessities like toothbrush & toothpaste, hair brush, shower cap, face towel, shower gel & shampoo. I usually just use whats provided so I won't have to over pack my hospital bag. Click here for my hospital bag packing list.

Some other items included in the stay were chargeable so please remember to bring them home.
P.s I didn't check the bill thoroughly so not sure if ALL of the above are chargeable but I do know most of them are):
Digital thermometer, baby hat, alcohol swabs, baby bath tub, diapers & wet wipes.

More items here.. TMC diaper bag with change pad, diapers again, Cetaphil samples and hand sanitizing gel.

Some more.. A 'First Year' photo frame, diaper samples and a cooler bag with Mama's milk from Dumex.

Last and not least a goodie bag from Smart Parents which includes these items as shown.
Super lots of stuff and I've not even begun with the suitcase!

The 'Confinement Essentials' suitcase at a glance. It is a cabin-sized luggage which is super cute! Def a keeper for short trips or a staycay! (4-Wheeled Cabin Suitcase (22 inch / 56 cm)

Here's how it looks like when opened, goodies galore.. LOL. I'll show the items included below in close up.

Top left (in clockwise order):

  • Growth Chart + Cupcake Stand
  • Thomson Medical’s Confinement Cookbook + Nutritious Recipe Book for Pregnancy & Lactation
  • Young Parents Magazine + 6 Months Digital Subscription
  • Merries NB Diaper Samples
  • Aviva’s MyJoyfulBundle Insurance Plan for Mummy & Baby

Top left (in clockwise order):
  • Set of Gentle Skin Cleanser and Moisturising Cream
  • Set of Probiotic Cleansing Mousse, Feminine Mist and Talc-free Body Powder
  • Set of Hair Loss Shampoo and Hair Loss Tonic Treatment
  • Feeding Accessories Wash + Wet Wipes
  • Antibacterial Overnight Sanitary Pads (360 mm)

Top left (in clockwise order):
  • Waterproof Wet Bag
  • Hip & Belly Wrap
  • Document Holder + Huaxia Taimaobi Voucher for Thomson Babies

Top left (in clockwise order):
  • Disposable Underpants and Underpads (bed pads)
  • Breast Pads
  • Anti-slip Covered Bedroom Slippers

So this was the whole lot of goodies collected during my pregnancy as well as from the hospital stay at TMC - alot of things can! So b'cuz I am a STM (second time mom) I really don't need so much stuff thus I will be separating these items into 7 bags for my dear readers to have. Will put them up in a give-away for the month of August, so check my FB & IG (@Vannytelly) for more deets on how you can win.

All separated for the give-away! More bags so that more of you can share. : )

Some of the items weren't from the suitcase but also one of those I've collected during my pregnancy, e.g. 2 nursing covers, nipple cream sample, digital thermometer, feminine spray, stretch mark cream, teddy bear and some Mustela products.

And JTS some of the meals from TMC. Am not sponsored or paid but I just love the food and my fav was the Green Papaya Fish Soup. It is super popular and even my Mummy friends who do not deliver here order them out. It is slightly milky and very smooth to taste, light to drink and fish was fresh - most importantly it's an awesome milk booster for breastfeeding Moms.. Yays~~

One of my lunches...

And dinner. There were a few types of cuisines to choose from the menu but I always opt for the Confinement Meal b'cuz after delivery all I want is something light and good for recovery. If this is not your thing there's also Western, Chinese, and Vegetarian.

So that's all for today and I hope you liked my review for the day. Do feel free to leave comments in the comment box below if you have any question/s regarding the topic and I'll try my best to answer them if it's not already stated in my blog above. And that's all for today, bye~! ; )

Give-Away Update!
Head on to my FB/IG for more deets!
